Children’s classes meet every Tuesday with the following schedule.

NEW CLASS: Grupo de Oro meets every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 am.

Teen/Adult & Performing Company classes meet every Thursday with the following schedule.

Danzoneros: group that performs the danzon, chachacha, and mambo using music as danced in traditional Mexican communities.

| NEW CLASSES: $45 each on-line course for folkloristas. All courses and readings are focused on folklorico utilizing a Chicanx perspective. Some readings might be in Spanish. 1.Danza de los Matachines -CLOSED-meets Tuesdays, January 20, 27, & February 3, 10 2026, from 9:00 p.m. central time to 10:00 p.m. central time zone. Danza de los Matachines-This is a four-week on-line course designed for folkloristas who want to connect scholarly writings on the Matachines dance traditions with embodiment. Participants will read scholarly writings every week on the matachines dance tradition and come prepared to discuss the topics learned in class. We will apply all theoretical concepts learned to teaching and choreography. Reading list will be provided to participants closer to the date. 2. Son Jarocho- dates and times to be determined Son Jarocho-This is a four-week on-line course designed for folkloristas who want to read writings by scholars on Son Jarocho alongside writings by Dance Studies scholars on the politics of choreography. Participants will engage with and learn to read the political meanings of the Son Jarocho as performed in Mexico and the United States. Reading list will be provided closer to the date. Participants must visit their public library to check out all books for the courses. Please ask your librarian about borrowing a book using inter-library loan or if they have an e-book option. Books can also be purchased at Amazon. All participants must use Facebook messenger groups and have their camera on. Thus, an active Facebook account is required. These courses are limited to twelve participants. |
